What is Important to Us
Our Purpose
Connecting People to Jesus and His Love
through Worship, Small Groups and Missional Service
Worship: We gather around God’s Word and Holy Sacraments to receive forgiveness and strength as followers of Jesus. (Acts 2:42)
Small Groups: We journey together in small groups to build one another up in our walk with Jesus. (Acts 2:46-47)
Missional Service: We share the love of Jesus through generous acts of kindness, both locally and globally. (Acts 2:45)
Our Core Values
All of us are guided by what we value. Our decisions about how we spend our time and money reflect what we value. The same is true for Messiah Lutheran Church. What we value is reflected in what we do. This is what we value:
Jesus alone saves us from our sins and therefore our primary task is to share Jesus with others both locally and globally. (Mt 28:18-20; Lk 19:10; Jn 6:40; Acts 4:12)
Every home is valued as the center of Christian Education where faith is nurtured and passed on from one generation to the next, and where each person develops a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. (Deut. 6:4-9; Eph. 6:1-4; 2 Tim. 1:5)
Scripture and the sacraments of Holy Baptism and The Lord’s Supper are the foundation of our relationship with Jesus Christ. (Jn 6:63, 68; Rom. 10:17; 1 Pt 3:21; Mt 26:28)
Unity is found in Jesus alone as we celebrate the diversity of all ethnic groups in the Body of Christ. (Mt 28:19; Rev. 7:9)
Service to God and others reflects our desire to strive for integrity and excellence together in every area of our lives. (Rom. 12:4-8; 2 Cor. 13:11; Phil. 3:12-14; 1 Cor. 10:31, Rom. 6:11-14; Rom. 12:1-2; Js 2:14-17; 1 Cor. 10:31; Heb. 6:1-3)
These five values will guide all of our decisions as we carry out our Mission and Purpose.
